The function we all we to was fun! We had a great time at the function. Or, we learned a lot at that function. (It’s a gathering of people, small or large) It can also mean something is working well. It can also mean the new stove is functioning well. (It’s doing what it’s meant to do)

@LearningGermanDude Thank you! So functionality is kind of related to "ability" as the word itself suggests...? Also, one thing I am not yet sure is that in case of referring to some function of the software like "alarming function" or "automatic sleep function", should I use function or functionality?

@Ryuki_Ricky depends on how you construct the sentence. For instance, "Is my alarm FUNCTIONing?", most of the time when you refer it to a software "function" is more applicable. If you want to use "Functionality" in a sentence with a software it would be like this: "The cameras are comparable in price and FUNCTIONALITY".
