Hi,
could you please explain why I have to put "who" behind person in sentence 1, it is my home work and I didn't put "who" there and then the system told me that was wrong and gave me that correct sentence like the first one.
But at sentence 2, I also didn't put "who" behind somebody and I was correct.
So, I want to know when I have to use who after a person.
Thank you.

@jonathanliu Those are good questions! :)
To answer the first question, yes you do use “who” if you say “a person”. To be more clear, you would use “who” if you say a/the/this/that/those before person/people.
“She is a person who you can trust.”
“That is the person who I spoke to yesterday”
“He is that person who I fell in love with.”
“I know those people who you have been visiting.”
To answer the second question, you would not use “who” for the sentence “the woman is somebody I worked with”. Even though you say “the woman”, it is at the start of the sentence. You still use the word “somebody” later in the sentence, so you would not use “who” after it.
Hope this helps, feel free to ask more questions!

Hello!
It is because the first sentence says “the person”. When you say “the” before saying the type of person, then you say “who” after it:
“Sharri is the person who I talked to.”
“That woman is the one who I worked with.”
The second sentence just says “somebody”, it does not use “the”, so it does not need “who” after it:
“Sharri is someone I talked to.”
“That woman is somebody I worked with.”
There are some more difficult English grammar rules for this, but I think knowing this much is good for now. I hope this helps!

@roojy25 Thanks. What if it is "a person" do I have to use who in the first sentence? For the sentence "The woman is somebody I worked with", if I add "who", is it also correct? or I can't add who?
