@Lucacaca fella is a noun, and is generally used informally, as e.g. âguyâ, âladâ, e.g. Thereâs a young fella waiting for you outside.
Fellow students, fellow workers , âfellowâ is an adjective . Itâs generally used in the formal register.

Both of these are colloquial, and can be used informally. Itâs the same word, but with different spellings.
âFellowâ is the standard spelling of the word. âYoung fellowâ could be used semiformally, but it seems quite old-fashioned to me.
âFellaâ is the same word but written to convey a particular accent, such as North American, Australian or Cockney.

@spagetoni Thanks a bunch XD It's interesting to know the concept of eye dialect. I used to believe it's kind of funny and humourous to say 'young fella' haha

@Lucacaca Glad you found it interesting! It can definitely sound funny to many people who donât talk like that, so youâre not entirely wrong. Cockney accents, for example, are often imitated by (non-Cockney) people trying to be humorous.

@spagetoni XD That raises another question. Would it be offensive to Cockney people if a person talks some daily topics while imitating their accents?
- English (UK)
@Lucacaca It could be rude, or it could be amusing. It depends how you do it â if youâre not trying to be rude, it might be ok. Itâs probably best to ask the person how they feel first!
