We grew apart implies that you don’t have anything in common anymore whereas we drifted apart implies you just stopped keeping in touch as often.

@icantiamo4535 good accent. It’s a little noticeable that you’re not a native speaker but you’re very close.
We grew apart and we drifted apart are almost exactly the same. The difference is very subtle, in the same way as a plant grows and a cloud or snow drifts. So it’s less about what actually happened and more a choice of poetic/metaphorical use of words.
Maybe drifted has a slower movement but it’s very very subtle. A native speaker wouldn’t get a different ‘story’ of what happened hearing one or the other.

@icantiamo4535 it means “as often as before” or “as often as they used to”, so a gradual letting go, like clouds drifting across the sky.

@icantiamo4535 for example, if you used to speak to someone everyday however now you only speak to them once a month . This is an example of not keeping in touch as often as you used to
