Really is used for truth or certainty. Virtually is used for when something is almost, but not quite, true or certain.
A: How old are you again?
B: I'm 23.
A: Oh, I thought you were 22.
B: Well, I'm really 22. I turn 23 next week though, so I'm virtually 23.
