A hobby is just something you do regularly that you enjoy. Something like drawing, playing an instrument or even writing.

Answering questions on hinative might be a hobby for some.

Example (what I would say):

I like to listen to music, play piano, and occasionally draw.

Other examples:

I play soccer!
No, I'm too busy to have any hobbies.
Sometimes I watch anime
I love playing golf.

Normally hobbies are unique to the average person:

You wouldn't consider breathing, eating or driving to be hobbies, but if somebody really likes to drive and will drive on a regular basis just to enjoy it, that could be considered a hobby.

Similarly Mukbang would be a hobby. Even though it's just eating a lot of food, to someone who enjoys eating a lot of food Mukbang would be considered a hobby. Eating out at fancy restaurants often might also be a hobby.


In context if someone were to ask you this, you don't have to preface an activity with like or love because they already assume you like doing it.

In the example "I play soccer!", they would assume that playing soccer is A. Something you do regularly, and B. Something you enjoy.
