I think lately is when the thing that happened more than once (repeatedly until the present) or is more like a state. "I've been feeling very stressed lately."
"Lately, I keep receiving phone calls from my work." (Suggests more than one instance).
Recently is more like when it has only happened once and no longer affects you.
"I felt stressed recently (but I'm better now)."
"I received a call from my work recently."
Most of the time they're interchangeable though. If you use one instead of the other no one will realise.

I guess it depends on how you construct your sentence? These words almost have the same meaning (esp. lately and recently).

Yeah, I agree, "lately" and "recently" both mean the same the thing.
ex: Lately, I've been working out after work.
Or
Recently, I've been working out after work.
Nowadays is similar to those too. Ex: Nowadays I work out after work.
Hope that helps!
