"The figure for" means to provide information for, or an estimate of. Example: The daily viewing figures for BBC are 1 million viewers.
"Figure of" is used in figurative speech, a phrase which is non-literal. Example: "Time is money" is a figure of speech because it is a metaphor. Or, "they are like peas in a pod" is a figure of speech because it is a simile, indicating that two people are very much alike.
