There’s no problem with using those verbs – you have already separated your statement into two different sentences, so there’s no problem at all.
The problem is that the first sentence is confusing, and contains some bad grammar. But we can fix it easily –
He put many of the lotteries into the box.
Or
He put a lot of lotteries into the box.
