Estuve = verbo "estar".
Ayer estuve en la casa de mi abuela.
Estuve en tu ciudad el año pasado.
Quedarse = verbo "quedar(se)"
Cuando fui a Madrid me quedé en una hostería muy bonita.
Me quedé pensando en tu propuesta.
Me quedé dormida con la tele prendida.

coincido con lo que te escribió Marthu
creo que la diferencia en cuanto a lugares
es que ESTAR lo usamos para decir estoy en el autobús, estoy en la escuela, estoy en un determinando lugar temporalmente .
mientras que QUEDARSE lo usamos para decir en donde estamos VIVIENDO aunque sea transitoriamente ( adonde DORMIMOS básicamente, pero también adonde COMEMOS )
de todas formas podría decir:" me quedo a pasar la tarde en la casa de mí tía"( no estoy un ratito sino un rato más largo) ,
"QUEDARSE" implica un tiempo más largo de estadía .
y " ESTAR" implica un tiempo más corto o más temporario
