A: These are both perfectly natural. I think we probably have 2 different types of phrases because of the history of the internet. In the past we would use a modem over a phone line to connect to the internet. You did not have a permanent connection. Hence the phrase: I like to get on the internet. Get on relates to the connecting.

Of course once you are connected there are plenty of ways to describe enjoying the internet:

I like to browse on the internet
I like to chat over the internet
I like to shop on the internet
